na temat:
Forecasting of Crime with Probability Risk Surfaces
Streszczenie:
The Risk Terrain Modelling (RTM) approach is a new method for building probability risk surfaces. So far, it has been foremost applied to urban areas in the US. It is built upon so-called criminogenic or risk factors that show a significant relationship to the occurrence of crime. Such factors have been tested and evaluated multiple times for US urban areas, however little information is known, whether they can be applied equally well to areas outside of the US.
This presentation reports on several ongoing and finished projects devoted to the development and evaluation of probability risk surfaces for accurately forecasting crime and terrorism events. The main purpose of this research is to address specific current limitations of risk surfaces in order to improve the predictability and the efficient commitment of law enforcement resources. All projects are carried out in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies from study areas in Austria (Vienna, Graz, and Salzburg) and Switzerland (Zurich).
