Dr Wojciech Witkowski, Eng. became an AGH-UST co-ordinator in AlignSAR project financed by ESA

We are glad to inform that the staff members of our Faculty received the financing of the research project: "AlignSAR" from ESA - European Space Agency in the framework of "OPEN SAR LIBRARY - EXPRO+".

The projekt will be conducted in an international consorcium consisting of 4 units:
(1) University of Twente (UT), the Netherlands, as the leader of the project,
(2) University of Leeds, Great Britain,
(3) RHEA Group, Italy
(4) AGH-UST represented by the Faculty of Geo-Data Science, Geodesy and Environmental Engineering.

The leader of the project is Dr Ling Chang of UT, and from AGH, the coordinator  is Dr. Wojciech Witkowski, a staff member of Department of Mining Areas Protection, Geoinformatics, and Mining Surveying.  

The objective of the projekt "AlignSAR" is to make a base of SAR signatures  for surface objects, using teaching tools of machine learning. Made within the project calculating algorithms will be implemented on EO (Earth Observation) platforms.
At the AGH the project is conducted by: Dr. Wojciech Witkowski (Eng.), Dr. Artur Guzy (Eng.),  Magdalena Łucka (M. Sc., Eng.), Prof. Dr. Sc. Ryszard Hejmanowski (Eng.), who are the members of the research team Land Subsidence & Hazard Mitigation Research Group przy KOTGGiGG.

The project is planned for  12 months with the budget of c.a. 300 000 EURO.
